Keep Clean and Keep Green

Public advocacy on the effects of plastic and how to manage it, to realizing the climate change because of lack of trees

People are using plastics in their daily life right now. They are using plastic bags or plastic boxes instead of baskets and food containers to pack something and easy carry in supermarkets, shopping centers, and neighborhood markets. There is a filling of plastic garbage in villages and even in cities. Especially we could see beside the roads, behind houses, the place without homes, and in the rivers.

In our country, there are no education sessions for the public to know how to use and manage plastics and what are the effects of plastics. People don’t know how plastics can destroy the environment and how to recycle them.

Kawmi village

In our country, the community didn’t know the value and effectiveness of a tree. The people cut trees and use them without limitation. The climate cycle is changing year by year. The farmers are facing flooding in the rainy season, fog heavy falling in winter, and high temperatures in summer. That situation directly affected farmers for family survival as well as the community. Due to the scarcity of perennial trees in the forest and the random cutting of trees, people are affected by the climate change mentioned above. Therefore, trees need to be replanted.

So, JCSDO advocates the event “keep clean and keep green” on 25 July 2022 at Kawh Mi village, Kawhkarite Township. 155 participants joined the events and they are from Kaw Gel, Kaw Bein, Kaw Thar, Kaw Kyaik, Kaw Mi, Karittamaw ring, Kayan New Chan Gone, Tharyarwati, Kaw Ha Tol, Mon Hlaing, Kwan Lai, Kaw Puak and Palaung Ta Mot villages, Kawkaraik Township.

JCSDO plans the event with the village GAD and chooses the place, then arranges the event on 25 July 2022. In the morning session, the guest speakers are providing about the impact of plastics and the lack of trees. Then, JCSDO provided 750 plants and growing together with villagers, village GAD, and participants.
