CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The JCSDO implements its Capacity Development Program which can be split into two major activities.

  • The Jeepyah Education Service (JES) Centre

The JES Centre provides a six-month Program and Organizational Management (POM) Course and it takes part for four months of intensive training on leadership, and management with a wide variety of issues, with a full curriculum below and two months, practically applying in their communities.

The JES Centre as well as provides one-month Skills Development for Youth training to provide general knowledge, leadership, and several issues. These courses bring Mon youth, women, and activists from rural villages into Moulmein (Mawlamyine).

In addition to the core curriculum, 9 extra-curricular topics are provided to students:

  6. Good Governance
  7. Natural Resource Management
  8. History
  9. Community Development Theory

Moreover, the POM course provides computer and English Influence skills to students.

  • One-month Skill Development for Youth provides the following topics:

  • Mobile training and workshops in communities

The rest of the time is devoted to mobile training and workshops in Mon village communities with youth groups, village administrations, and other interested organizations. The training is tailored to the needs and requests of the beneficiaries. Especially the JCSDO provides the following training and workshops:

  1. Civic Education Training: constitutions, state & government, democratic values and principles, democratic decision-making process, government function and its institutions, good governance, civil society, civilian role, and responsibilities.
  2. Organization Development workshop: techniques to strengthen the organization, and how to use them, problem-solving, and leadership.
  3. Strategic Training and time management: definition of strategic, program planning, problem-solving, monitoring & evaluation, definitions of time and management, management process, benefits of time management.
  4. Gender Awareness and Men Engagement training: sex and gender, stereotype, gender role,
  5. Financial literacy: working capital management, financial planning, budgeting, accounting, about set up capital.
  6. Youth Development Training: leadership, the definition of youth, smart goal, self-reflection.
  7. Leadership Training: types of leadership, strengths, and weaknesses of leadership styles, leadership skills, leadership and management, collaboration, and positive thinking.
