The Jeepyah Education Service (JES) is a service that provides the capacity for youths and communities, and it is one of the programs under the Jeepyah Civil Society Development Organization (JCSDO). The JES center regularly provides Program and Organization Management Courses, Civic Education training, Organization Development Workshops, and English and Computer courses for youths who are university students, activists, and community leaders.
Future Leder Initiate (FLI) course was held from Nov 3, 2022, to Dec 2, 2022, and took one month. There were 25 participants (3 males and 22 females) who joined the course and they came from Mudon, Thanphyuzayat, Ye, Thaton, Paung township Mon state, Kaw Kareik, and Kyarin Seik Gyi Karin State. They are volunteers of the Mon Literature Organization, Mon University Student Organization (MLM), and Mon youth organization.
The course aims to strengthen the youths to bear youth toward democratic leaders in the future of the community. The course provided Team Building, Ethical Leadership, Civic Education, Political Economy, Political Science, and Mon History. Then, the course also provides skills training such as basic computer and public speaking. The public speaking champion chosen by the JES appears after the course.
The course methodologies are role-playing, public speaking, question and answer, discussion, case study, lecturing, and watching videos too.
“We were not only happy but also excited that sending in front of our classmates and speaking to them. We improved more self-confidence in the public speaking skills from the FLI course.” said one of the participants.
“We had learned how to live harmoniously in a diverse group, how to manage our time, and how to summarize the key information when reading. Then, the course improved our confidence when speaking in public.
Also gained new skills such as listening skill, reading skill, thinking skill, analyzing, and communication skill.”
